Mr. Bassel Gamal

Chairman

Mr. Bassel Gamal, holds the position of QIB’s Group CEO since February 2013; having amassed over 22 years of experience in the banking and finance industry. His career started with Commercial International Bank (Chase National Bank) in Egypt, in 1990 for more than a decade.

In 2001, he joined Ahli United Bank Group in Bahrain during which he held many positions, last of which was Senior Deputy Group CEO – Banking Group. He was Ahli Bank’s Deputy CEO in Qatar from 2004 until 2006, at which point he moved on to become the CEO until early 2009.

Richard Musty

Chief Executive Officer

Richard joined QIB (UK) as the Chief Executive Officer in January 2023, having held CEO positions for over 20 years running “end to end” Banks. He is experienced in many sectors as well as Private Banking, Retail, Commercial, Treasury Trust and the Mortgage market.  Most recently Richard was the CEO of Lloyds Bank International.  Prior to that, Richard held many Executive roles with Lloyds Banking Group, including International and Expatriate Private Bank, Group Wealth, Middle East, Group Asia and Guernsey, Head of Retail Banking & Treasury.  Richard has also held circa 15 company directorships and has been approved with many financial regulators.  He is ACIB & FPC qualified.
Mr. Rakesh Sanghvi

Mr. Rakesh Sanghvi

Non-Executive Director

He has over 25 years’ experience with banks and leading audit firms. Started his career with Coopers & Lybrand in India before moving to Ernst & Young in Bahrain. Has over 20 years of banking experience with Ahli United Bank (AUB) in Bahrain and with Ahli Bank Qatar in the areas of Risk Management, Corporate Banking, Corporate Finance advisory and Audit. His last assignment at AUB was the Group Head of Risk Management. He is a Fellow member of the Indian Institute of Chartered Accountants and holds a CISA qualification from the USA.

Mr. Gourang Hemani

Non-Executive Director

He carries 22 years of accounting and Finance experience with international banks and with leading audit firms. Gourang started his career with Price Waterhouse Coopers – India and progressed through Standard Chartered Bank – India followed by long standing career with Banque Saudi Fransi in Saudi Arabia for 15 years handling various roles including Asset Liability Management, Treasury Middle Office, Financial Planning. His last assignment, prior to joining QIB was with Banque Saudi Fransi as Deputy Chief Financial Officer. He is a CFA Charter holder, FRM, Chartered Accountant from India.

Marianne Ismail

Independent Non-Executive Director

Marianne Ismail is an Independent Non- Executive Director of QIB(UK) and a member of the Audit and Risk Committee.

Marianne previously was a Managing Director in Morgan Stanley in New York and London and also held the position of CEO in Global Wealth Management Europe in Citigroup and was Head of Private Banking for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Standard Chartered Bank. Other directorships include the University of Greenwich, TCHG, the social housing group, and European Wealth Group. She also is Chair of TCHG Foundation.

Marianne Ismail

Julie Nicholson

Independent Non-Executive Director

Julie Nicholson is an Independent Non-Executive Director of QIB(UK) and a member of the Remuneration Committee and Audit and Risk Committee.  Julie has over 30 years executive experience predominately within Finance and Risk and her last executive role was with Barclays Bank where Julie was responsible for internal control and governance.  Other directorships include the Teachers Building Society, where Julie holds the Chair of the Building Society Board, she is also the Chair of the Audit Committee for Amitra Capital, an alternative asset manager, and recently stepped down as Chair of Reliance Bank, the Salvation Army bank after six years’ service.
Ludwig Krause

Ludwig Krause

Chief Financial Officer

Ludwig is a Chartered Accountant with extensive experience in financial services and a track record in enhancing profitability. He qualified with PWC in South Africa before joining Deutsche Bank in London, after which he became Finance Director of a specialist mortgage lender, then CFO of FirstRand Investment Bank before moving to QIB (UK) in January 2016. Ludwig runs a team that provides Financial, Management Accounting, Regulatory, Operations, IT, Facilities and Financial Systems support to the Bank. He holds a Master’s degree in Finance. Prior to his move to London, Ludwig was a lecturer in tax and accounting at the University of Johannesburg.
